A Guide for Landscape Photographers: Two Effective Ways to Grow Your Email List

As a landscape photographer, building a thriving email list is essential. A well-nurtured email list can help you connect with your audience, showcase your work, and generate more revenue. If you're struggling to build an email list, this blog post is for you. In this blog, we'll talk about two effective ways to grow your email list - giveaway and product launch waitlist.

Creating a Giveaway

Hosting a giveaway or a contest can be an effective way to grow your email list. A giveaway is when you offer a prize or a gift in exchange for people's email addresses. It can be anything from a free photoshoot, a free print, or (if you are a Foterra Jewelry Artist) a jewelry piece from your photo jewelry collection. The idea is to create something people want and offer it in exchange for their email. To run a successful giveaway, you need to keep a few things in mind:

Create an enticing prize:

Your prize must be something your audience cannot resist. It has to be relevant to your niche and useful to the audience. For example, you wouldn't want to offer a free iPad as your prize. Nothing about an iPad resonates with your business! This might get you a lot of sign-ups, but these people won't stick around long after the prize has been won. These contestants are great customers for Apple but not for your photography business.

Create a landing page:

Design a landing page that explains what the giveaway is about, what the prize is, and what people need to do to enter the contest. Keep it simple, add visuals and a clear CTA. Most email providers, such as Klaviyo, or Mailchimp, have built-in drag-and-drop landing page templates that you can use for your giveaway.

Promote your giveaway:

Share your giveaway on all your social media platforms, email list, and blog. Use paid social media ads to reach a wider audience. Use a catchy headline, visuals, and a clear call to action. I like to design my social post in Canva! It's user friendly, fast and has tons of designs that can be modified to fit your brands aesthetic.

Product Launch Waitlist

If you plan to launch a new product (like a Foterra Jewelry collection!), creating a product launch waitlist can be a great way to build a pre-launch buzz and grow your email list. A waitlist is a list of people interested in your product or service who sign up to be notified when it's launched. To create a waitlist that works, follow these steps:

Create a landing page:

Again! A landing page is important for potential customers to sign up. It explains your product or service, what it can do for your potential clients and customers, and why they should sign up. Offer something exclusive or early access to people who sign up.

Promote your waitlist:

Promote your waitlist on all your social media platforms, email list, and blog. Use LinkTr.ee and add it to your link in your bio on Instagram. This helps people who visit your profile raise their hands and say, "sign me up!".

Nurture your email list:

Once people sign up for your waitlist, nurture them and keep them interested in your upcoming product or service. Send them regular updates, sneak peeks, and any exclusive content. Sending a once a week email is a great place to start. This keeps you top of mind with your customers. Remember, these people were excited enough to get on a waitlist to be notified about your new product first. You're not bothering them by emailing them, so don't be afraid to send these emails. You're helping them, not pestering them.

Growing your email list as a landscape photographer can seem daunting, but it's not impossible. With these two methods, you can create a targeted and engaged email list to help you reach new heights in your business. Remember, the key is to offer value, promote your offerings, and keep your audience engaged. Happy growing!
